Can't ID blank snail

Put a pile of live rock in my tank yesterday and noticed a little snail. Can't find a pic anywhere on the internet of him and he crawled off into the rock before I could take my own pic of him.

Less then fingernail in length, elongated black shell with white flecks (not round spots) and two very small white diamonds midway on back of shell. His proboscis (the snorkel?) coming out his head was one third his length.

Great web site but no ID. I'll have to wait for him to come out of hiding and then snap a photo. (The hermit crab tried to eat him but spit him out and then the he crawled away.)

Ok here's a pic. The white diamond is on both sides but can't see from this angle.

Looks like it could be a cowrie or a whelk to me. If I were you, I'd take it out next chance you get, just to be on the safe side.
