I went and put the blue and the yellow tang in the QT treated them and this tuesday was the last day they showed signs of ich, I waited tyl sunday to put them back in the DT. But later on that night they had it again?. My fish in the DT do not show any symptoms of ich. what should I do?

I am new to saltwater aquariums and set up my first tank a few months ago. Everything was going fine for quite a while, corals are happy, fish seem happy, coralline is starting to grow on new rocks. About a week and a half ago I had a cardinalfish start to breath fast and heavy and died within 24 hours. I tested the water and all levels are zero with a PH of 8.2. This was after the fish was in the tank for a few of weeks.

Now, a couple weeks later I had a bicolored angelfish who was swimming just fine yesterday AM, eating...etc. Was short of breath and resting on rocks last night and died in the middle of the night.

What is going on? In the tank I have another cardinalfish (a match to the first one that died), (2) ocellaris Clownfish, and a cinnamon Clownfish. I am worried about these guys now that the others have met their maker.

I can't tell if it's a disease (no slime or white spots), poor water quality (everything checks out OK), or I am just doing something wrong. I don't have a QT tank yet but will be setting one up tonight.

Any advise is much appreciated!

After doing some research i was thinking it is lymphocystis. Does any one have any ideas or treatments i can try. My wife bought the coral beauty from a local pet store with this one large white spot on the tail. The guy at the store told her it was some kind of parasite but not ich. After putting the coral beauty in my quarantine tank it did get ich. I then treated the tank with kick ich to treat for ich. Half way through the treatment the ich was gone. But know there is this one big spot on the tail and a few more starting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Just thought I'd get more eyes on what I've seen on the firefish and foxface.

The firesfish has been eating like normal, but for a couple of days, he was M.I.A., but now came back out and I saw 2 red spots on one side, and 1 on the the other....could he have been stung? Or is it a disease? The spots are not raised, they don't look like they are ulcers. The only thing I have that might sting a little bit are ball anemones, and of course the foxface. But he is also living with a pistol shrimp for a year, and I don't think there's been problems.

The foxface, since getting the "bruise" looking circle on one side (which did go away after a few days), has had a red looking line along his spine, towards his tail. He's eating normal and is not hiding (in fact, he's out more now). Should I Be worried? Do NOT pay attention to his pale coloring -- he's pale cuz he was pissed about me chasing him around with the camera, but as soon as I walked away, he's bright yellow again, like his usual self.

Hey guys as some of you know i rescently had a HUGE ICH outbreak which took the life of my flame angel and attacked my Blue tang, FoxFace, and nemos. Well i went to the LFS and he recomended Herbtana a natural Microbe-Lift chemical that is safe for Reefs and inverts. Well after dosing for 10 days im glad to say that the ICH is GONE :). This stuff worked great. I could see a difference half way through treatment. The remaining fish are now swimming all over the place and seem to be very happy. I would HIGHLY recomend this product to anyone that has issues with (Ich, Flukes, Chilodonella, Costia, Trichodina, and Oodinium.) worked great for me :)...

Happy Fishing.

Ok before everyone bashes me and says you should never do that well it worked and i lost nothing to it but the ICH, i have a yellow tang, coral beauty, clown, yellow tail damsel , a full clean up crew of various snails, 2 emerald crabs, coral banded shrimp, coral torch , moon brain, flower pot coral, chili coral and 120lbs of live rock. I caught ich and had a hard time trying to catch my fish to remove them without recking my whole tank, i tried 2 different so called organic cures that did not work, then after talking to a good friend of mine that had reefs for years and kept maintenance on several for people in the past told me what to do and told me if i kill anything he would pay to replace anything that died and from knowing him for almost 20 years i knew he was good for it so i went ahead and gave it a try. We used "Quick Cure" took carbon off line and turned off skimmer used 1 drop per gallon once a day at the same time everyday for 7 days, my moon brain did turn from bright green to an tan/brown color but was still alive and the torch and flower pot would retract back for a few hours after medication but would come back out after some time. after the 7 day medication all ick was gone and i have not lost anything in my tank including all the little creatures that come out of my rock at night and the moon brain has been slowly but surely getting its bright green back, and everything is thriving again, its been about 1 month since the treatment. Well thats my Ich Experience i had if it can help someone else great but as you know its at your own risk, im very happy with the outcome and seems i have lost not 1 thing in my tank except the horrible Ich. and lets hope it stays that way.

I have noticed in the past couple days that there were a couple rust colored skin looking things on the LR of a new zoa colony. Did a quick search and found out they are rusty flatworms. I definantly want to take care of this ASAP since their bodies release a toxin when they die and the fewer that die the better.

So, does anyone have any experience with flatworm exit? I also read that there are several fish that reportedly eat the flatworms. Like six lines, blue damsels, and arrow crabs. Has any one used one of those to help control the population?

I'm not sure what this is, or if it is an issue (I really hope not), so I'm asking the question. Hopefully one of you can set my mind at ease, or send me down the right path.

Basically, I noticed a circle area on the side of my clown (on the bigger more aggressive of the four I have) and in the middle a few scales don't look right. I've not noticed this before and I do spend a lot of time staring into the tank.

For the reference of those who can help, the tank has four clowns, a bi-colour blenny, mandarin and four janitor crabs. On the coral front, a lot of mushroom, a decent sized frogspawn and an area of zoas.

I finally seem to be getting on top of a hair algae outbreak after 6 months, and will be devastated if this is a major issue.

Excuse the photo quality, I just wanted a shot of the problem area, not a great photo. Its only one of the four clowns with the marks.

Here's a picture of him when I first got him <http://www.livingreefs.com/anthia-madness-t26895.html>.

I read on a few places that this cloudiness could be the sign of a bacterial disease. Being an optometry student I'd know exactly what to do if this were a human, but I'm baffled when it comes to fish. All my other fish (Hawk, clown, and P.J.) are all ok and everyone including the anthia is eating well. The only thing I've done differently since I added the anthia is I've started feeding with ProSalt in addition to a rotation of mysis and brine shrimp. What can I do at this point so that my favorite fish doesn't die on me!?!
