fragging blasomussa

Anyone ever frag Blastomussa? Can you just clip one of them off of the cluster. It seems really hard to get underneath. I would like to start some in my nano.

Re: fragging blasomussa

Are you cutting merletti or welsi? If you are cutting merletti just try and cut a chunk loose at the base where all the stalks grow into on mass. If cutting welsi aggrivate the coral so the flesh shrinks back. Then try to cut between the heads if possible. Try not to cut the flesh. The welsi's seem to not handle stress near as well as the merletti's do. You can make the cuts with a dremel, bone cutters, wire cutters etc. After it is cut swish both pieces around in some tank water ( like in a bowl) to get some of the slime off. Then just place back in the tank. Give them a little bit a flow to help keep the slime off of them. After a few days they should be good to go. I would wait a week or so before shipping. Good luck.

Re: fragging blasomussa

Merletti will be much easier to frag than wellsi. Cut as close to the base as you can.
