I've noticed lately, (since my snail died) that there is now and abundance of what I assume to be some kind of Algae. Not sure if its one to keep or not, so thought I'd ask. It covers most of my rocks and looks 'wispy' but doesn't quite look like hair to me. I'll up load a pic.
Also, in the algae are tiny larvae. Not sure if it was left by the snail or if its from the crabs. We haven't had fish in there for at least 5 to 6 mo. (no luck with them yet) so either the crabs got it on or the snail got busy with him/her self. Trying to figure out what they are and what I should do about it. Thanks so much! Re: Algae prob? and new babies
Welcome to the reef.
The algae could be bryopsis(sp?).I know I butchered that word. Its bad. And I'm betting the the larvae are actually copepods and amphipods.Their good. The pods use the algae as a food source and refuge. Give us a little more information on your tank and your water parameters. That way,we can you get the algae gone.

Re: Algae prob? and new babies
Yote, you spelled bryopsis correctly!
I also agree that the larvae sound like pods. Check out Melev's Reef - Visual Identification to compare with.

Re: Algae prob? and new babies
Welcome to the site.
A better decription of the algae work more.Whatever it is it doesn't sound desirable. The larvae are copepods most likely-reef safe and beneficial.
