Hydrometers are not reliable at all. Plus they need to be replaced about every 6 months or so. Even brand new hydrometers of the same brand will have wildly different readings.
Refractometers are definitely the way to go. Good buy!

my ol hydrometer is what im stuck with. I just have to make sure there are no salt deposits messin with it.
