Talking Heater Selection?

Aquarium Heaters: Rena Cal Top Light Excel Heaters

I found and really like this heater. I am going to use it for a 30 gallon reef setup I am starting. Should I go with the 100w or the 150w? It seems like the 150w would be a better choice because I won't have to worry about maxing it out to get the desired temperature. I really like that it has single degree incrimental temp. steps.

Any thoughts? I love this forum, you guys are all a GREAT help. This is a better addiction that drugs or alcohol.

Re: Heater Selection?

I would say go for the larger one...

This addiction is more expensive than drugs or alcohol, unfortunately.

Re: Heater Selection?

I'd go with 2 of the 50 watts heaters instead.
Reason being,If one happens to stick on it wont cook your tank near as quick.

Re: Heater Selection?

Has been for me Mike.
If the water cools down enough for heat, then both heater should kick on.But if one sticks on and the other cuts off theres not as big a chance of over heating the tank before you catch it.

Re: Heater Selection?

I use two heaters. I figure if one breaks at least one will still work.
