newbie questions

Hi
I just bought 2x54 watts t5HO lights togo with the 1x20watt flourescent I have.
My tank is a 33 gallon, what kind of corals would this allow me to keep? Also I used the t5's for 1 18,000k bulb and the actnic, and the t8 for the 10,000k, is this an apropriate light spectrum? Thanks

Re: newbie questions

You'll have to stick with the lower light corals.Mushrooms and things of that nature.
I'll let Reef tackle your spectrium question.

Re: newbie questions

18k?
Thats an odd kelvin rating.Lower 6500k-12000k plus an actinic will be a better mix.

Soft corals and LPS corals should good under them.

Re: newbie questions

thanks. I rechecked the kelvin rating and it is 18. It's a powerglo bulb, gives off a purple/pink color. I will have a look at the lower rated bulbs thanks

Re: newbie questions

I run 48" power compacts...2 65W actinic and 2 10,000K daylight on my 55 gallon (bout 12inched deep). I've been keeping mushrooms, zoanthids, tridacna clams, elegance corals, torch and frogspawn corals, flowerpot, brains, even cup corals. you should be good with LPS, polyps, and some sps but I would be careful and talk to LFS before purchasing. I also try to get cheap frags of corals I'm unsure of.
