Trouble with glass lid

So my protein skimmer has finally arrived, went with the Coralife SS 65, and have it set up and started its "break in" period, but now my nice glass lid cover no longer fits neatly over the tank. Before it used to butt up right against the edge of the filter, a Penguin 350, and fit very nicely. What can i do to remedy the situation? I would really like to keep the cover, should i have it cut so it fits or should i just nix it altogether??

Re: Trouble with glass lid

A glass company could make you a new one or possibly cut the one you have. The other option is to ditch it altogether an run an open top or use eggcrate.Your get more evaporation but you get better gas exchange.Eggcrate maybe better if you have fish known to jump.

Re: Trouble with glass lid

I agree with Freak, ditching the glass top will lead to better gas exchange at the surface. I use egg crate on my tank, you can cut it to fit. It can be found in the lighting section of Home Depot or Lowe's.
