Re: new bulbs?

You are way overdo.PC are only good for 8-12 months.

50/50 is what I would do if it's only one bulb.Half 10k/half actinic.

Re: new bulbs?

That's right, you are way over due. I was told to change them every six months. I got tired of spending all that money and went with t 5's. They last a whole lot longer.

Re: new bulbs?

I've been putting off replacing my MH bulbs, I have 4 x 250 watts that are about 8 months old now. Maybe that's what I'll use my stimulus check for.

Re: new bulbs?

I should probaly get t5s for this tank because im not ready for it to go into a 75 gallon. I am going to wait until the shrooms and other corals grow over almost everything until i get somthing bigger. but in the meantime i was also thinking of dumping that crappy in-tank fuge for a hang one with a protein skimmer.Heres what i have been looking at;
http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=292
and any ideas on the t5s?
Also are t6s the same as t5s?

Re: new bulbs?

biff you may still be fine my lps has mh on all his coral tanks with run time of 12hrs a day and he changed his last one at exactly 1yr-3 months it was a 2 400 watt system he said some of the newer bulbs are improved but he used a lux meter to tell and let me take one home to see if my light was exact to spec. and it was..so your lps may let you borrow theres if they have one and you know someone real good there (just a little help ) Ive seen these go for around 60$ on ebay may check favorite site ...

Re: new bulbs?

T6s are not the same as T5s. Don't go with T6s, they are very difficult to get replacement bulbs for.
