sump size for 72 gallon

Okay, this is my third question today. I've been making a lot of changes to my tank and I need to know about what size sump/refuge I need for my 72 gal bowfront? 10.... 20.... 30..... ??????? I was thinking about 20. That seems like enough room for some green stuff, sand protien skimmer and a small filter.

Re: sump size for 72 gallon

The bigger the better.Go with the biggest you have room for.A 30 works great, but probably wont fit under your stand, and you may not be a willing as I am about the sump sitting in the floor beside your display.
You wont need the filter either. The sump will be all the filter you need.

Lol, I feel like a parrot, but the bigger the better, if it can fit under the stand than use it.

Re: sump size for 72 gallon

A 30 gallon standard tank should fit, but not a 30 gallon breeder, or if you cn find oe a 45 gallon AGA (Aqueon) tank will fit in your stand if it is a standard commercial stand. There would be very little top clearance, however, as it is 23.75 inches tall.

Re: sump size for 72 gallon

we have a 20 gallon long for our 75. It was really the biggest thing that would fit in our stand beacuse it's got drawers and such. It fits our equipment plus we have bubble baffles and a refugium.
