Protein Skimmer Advice

I am still getting my feet wet with this hobby and I just started this year. I have a 54 gallon corner bow front with a 10 gallon sump. After doing a lot of reading now I know that I need a protein skimmer which brings me to another problem which one. Any advice would be greatly appreciately. I have been looking around and found a few but most are for over 100 gallon tanks and I wouldn't want to overkill it.

Overkill in skimmers is a good thing. My skimmer on my 180 is rated for over 300gallons.

Re: Protein Skimmer Advice

It's pretty impossible to overkill on skimming. Most skimmers are actually overrated anyways. Your best bet is to get a skimmer rated for twice your tank size.
