Acrylic sump

i am very close to setting up my second tank

it came with a 20 gallon wet/dry which i am going to convert to a sump

whats the best way to install the baffles

if i get plexiglass cut can i just use aquarium silicone to fasten them in place?????

Current Aquarium(s) Description: 90 gallon, 30 gallon sump, nova extreme pro, Oceanic 72 gallon bowfront 20 gal sump, 10 gal fuge

Yep.The silicone will hold the baffles as well as anything else.

+2 Yote. Lowe's will cut the plexiglass for free. Home Depot won't.

Something to note is that silicone doesnt bond to acrylic extremely well. It will work though, it just may not hold with the pressure of water.

no it sucks all my baffles came loose i used a marine jb weld that is made for boats and water tanks. and it sets under water.

Ace Hardware will cut if free too.Plus the plexiglass is cheaper at ace then home depot.

ok
so to avoid the baffels coming loose
what are other fastening options???

is there an adhesive specially made for bonding acrylic to acrylic thats safe for aquatic use??

I always used GE Silicone I - Doors & Windows. I never had a problem with it coming loose.

I just diy'd my sump/fuge with silicone from "Home Depot" and got them cut for free and it seemed to work just fine, oh maybe because i work at HD
