Question skimmer question

i have an aquaC-ev-180 skimmer. it is working perfectly fine for me. but i have one question, everytime i put my hands on the tank or feed my tank the bubbles go down to the water level and it will take a good half to an hour before it starts to skimm again. and it does put out a good black gunk which i have to clean at least once a week because it gets too smelly. HELP

Current Aquarium(s) Description: 120 gal aga reef and 6 yr old 29 gal fresh converted into reef(softies/anemone tank)
