Hanging Pendants

Im in the process of setting up a new tank 65 gal 36x18x24. I have 2 IC pendants with 250 watt DE Phoenix bulbs. I want to make this an open air tank but I dont want to hang the pendants fron the ceiling .
I need to keep them 8 inchs from the water and was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to do this, with out it looking tacky.
