CPR Aquatic, AquaFuge refugiums

I am considering purchase of HOT type refugium for my 30g reef.
I could not find it in any LFS and pictures on websites are not good
so I have couple questions. Possibly someone on this group has it
and can answer my questions.

1. what kind of lights are included with the package?
2. where the rio pump is located? (in the tank or in the refugium?)
3. is baffling system enough to have 4-5" of sand bottom?

Any general opinions about this product?

Says the lighting is *optional* which of course means it doesn't come with
any. It looks like the Rio adapter is part of what hangs in the main tank.
There are some diagrams there of it that might help. I have asked about this
one before as well but no one here seems to have tried it out yet. You might
be breaking new ground, lol. It looks interesting and possibly a viable
option other than the standard extra tank set-up that some of us just can't
do for various reaons.. You need about 5 to 6 inches of clearance between
the wall and the back of the tank from what I recall reading about it. Hope
this helps at least a little. Let us know what you think of it if you get
it.. I am still considering one at some point.

I will. I have ordered medium one on www.drsfostersmith.com for $99.
Seems expensive if no lights are included. Oh well, have to do some DIY.
I will also try to move the pump inside. My tank is too small to have
yet another pump... I have already three powerheads including one
powering my SeaClone skimmer - they look ugly, even when covered
with coraline algae...

the pump pushes water into the fuge and it then overflows back to the tank,
i highly dought your going to be able to move the pump inside. and if you
by chance did get it to pull the water in, when power is interupted it will
loose prime and not restart.

There is a design flaw in the CPR HOT fuge, so do a search on Reef Central for
the protective solution.

Regarding lighting, that is provided by the main tank lighting, as you no longer
use a background on the tank and it shines right through.

The pump is inside the tank, and the baffles aren't tall enough for 5" of sand
if I recall.

I used 3 of the 13w P/C light on my fuge from hellolights.com, there
relitively cheap to. I put them in my hood. 2 of them are actinic blue
and are on after main lights go out for a moonight effect. Looks very
good and the corals glow nicely..Chad

I was planing to move it to the return pipe. To make it push the water
out from the fuge to the tank. The second pipe would make the siphon
and suck the water from the tank to the fuge. The plan might not work
of course, since I have not seen this refuge yet. Maybe it is not doable.

That is bad news - I wish I got your message before ordering...

In regards to lighting - my back wall is covered 90% in coraline algae.
I would not like to scrub it off. But thinking about the visual effect I might do it.

But first I need to prove it works at all...
