Thanks |

Re: SW Gravity
Add more. You want 1.026

Re: SW Gravity
a note you should not add salt directly to a tank with livestock, it should be mixed with
water until you can no longer see the salt first then added to the tank, as it sounds like you have to increase salinity, I would remove a few cups of water from the aquarium mix in a cup or 2 of salt slowly until it is disolved and add that water back into the tank, measure specific gravity and try again, if you pass 1.026 then add fresh(treated) water -- Richard Reynolds "Marc Levenson" <> wrote in message news:... > Add more. Freshly mixed salt is extremely caustic, and will cause serious discomfort to the gills of any tank inhabitants, and may even kill fish / inverts. Regards, Fishnut. |

Re: SW Gravity
Richards way of doing it is no different than doing a water change. He's
removing some tank water, adding salt to that water until mixed, then adding the water back into the tank. -Todd "Fishnut" <> wrote in message news:... > On Tue, 30 Sep 2003 22:48:29 -0700, "Richard Reynolds" > <> wrote: > > >a note you should not add salt directly to a tank with livestock, it should be mixed with > >water until you can no longer see the salt first then added to the tank, as it sounds like > >you have to increase salinity, I would remove a few cups of water from the aquarium mix in > >a cup or 2 of salt slowly until it is disolved and add that water back into the tank, > >measure specific gravity and try again, if you pass 1.026 then add fresh(treated) water > > Richard, > > Surely this is not an accepted method. Ive been awake way to many hours in the last 2 weeks, so its possible i missed something BUT HUH ??? no where did i say to add salt directly to a tank, instead "you should not add salt directly to a tank" any other portion of my method works and is acceptiable. there is of course the exception of a new tank w/o any live things(ls & lr included) in which go ahead and mix in the tank, just dont add livestock until its mixed 100% > Regards, Fishnut. -- Richard Reynolds |

Re: SW Gravity
I actually don't have any fish in it yet anyways. I plan on cycling it wit
the LR and clean up crew before adding any fish.
