death over night

pls tell me why!

my 3 cow fish, 1 blue tang and 1 camel shrimp are dead over night in less
then 8 hours. when i last see them, they were as alive as ever. i fed them
with defroze brimp shrimp just before i went to bed and when i woke up the
next morning, i am being greeted with 4 lifeless bodies on the bottom of the
tank. they were eating as usual when i last fed them.

but surprisingly, my mandrine and scooter blemy, star fish and fire shrimp
are doing fine.

i suspect it's my liquifry marine (by Interpet - liquid food for inverts and
corals). cos after i feed them, i add a dose of liquifry marine. and i
notice a foul smell from the bottle and also the liquidfry marine appeared
cakey. it use to be smelless and very watery instead of cakey. i have have
used this product for almost 2 months untill this morning.

can some1 pls tell me what or why cost the death of my beloved fish.

Sorry to hear about your loss elliot. What ever happened with your boxer

That's really bizarre. If it had only been fish, or even all the fish,
something might have made a bit of sense. But half the fish, and an invert?
Really weird. I had something similar happen once a long time ago, but that
was after a power outage, and the tank simply ran out of oxygen.

You may be right, the invert food may have been rotten, and the dead fish
were simply more sensitive to the poisoining then what remains.

I would suggest a water change and some carbon to clear the water(take a
sample before the water change) and check the readings(before and after).
You may even want to take the sample to an LFS to have them check it for
things that you don't have tests for, to help give an idea of what might
have happened, so that it doesn't happen again.

It sounds like an oxygen depravation issue. Do you run a skimmer? Do you have
any powerheads breaking the surface and agitating the water (to provide gas
exchange)? Do you feel your tank is heavily populated, to where it was just at
the point of loss?
