US Aquarium Brand Protein Skimm

Hello all.
The only protein skimmer I've ever owned is 20" (120 gal) hang-on-back
by US Aquarium.
I suspect that it's not such a great skimmer but am unsure what to
expect since this is the only one I've ever used.
I can say for sure that the RIO 600 pump that it uses is a piece of
junk.

So, I'd like to know 2 things:

Has anyone else used this model?
How does it compare with others?

What would you recommend for a replacement pump? The RIO is crap and
usually won't restart after I unplug it.

TIA

Erik

Re: US Aquarium Brand Protein Skimm

You can replace the pump with a MaxiJet1200, which is reliable.

I prefer the Remora (or Remora Pro) for a HOB skimmer.
