Re: safe way to raise salinity
I am in the same boat. Is what i've been doing is when adding water daily for evaporation i've been adding saltwater to slowly bring it up over a week or so.

Re: safe way to raise salinity
Do it slowly, either like Newb says, to top off with saltwater, or when you do a water change, use new water that's slightly high in salinity. Either way, 1.022 is fine, and it's not by any means an emergency or anything.

Re: safe way to raise salinity
But what about those parasites he might be killing? Poor little burrowers! Just do not dump hands full of salt mix into your tank or sump. I went into a LFS a few years ago and that is how they adjusted their salinity. They went out of bussiness fairly quickly. That was a good thing.

Re: safe way to raise salinity
i think topping off with saltwater sounds like the most gradual way, i will run with that and test as i go

Re: safe way to raise salinity
If you know anyone working in a hospital, IV tubing works great for slow drips. I add all top off water with any additives using iv tubing and a few one gallon buckets.
