Life insurance, help...

I am under my families life insurance policy, and the insurance company is in the process of changing ownership and yesterday the representitive met with us and we had to sign a bunch of papers and of course he asked if any of us smoked. I am in the process of quiting so I said no. I am down to about 4 cigerettes a week. My question is, when do they drug test you to see if you smoke? Is it random, or do they do it in the beginning? Or do you think they will even do it because we have been with this company for many years, they have never done it before. Also, does anyone know how long nicotine stays in your system?

Thanks for you help. This kind of worked out nice, because of this I am now DONE smoking.

They dont test for nicotine.But if they happen to want you to get a check up,then the doctor could probably tell that you used to smoke.

Never smoked but did use to chew copnhagen a lot. I just quit cold turkey.. Havent touched the stuff in 10 years.. Marine Corps give you a bad habit or 2...

Nicotine is a short acting chemical and only stays in your system around 24-36hrs.

Insurance companies don't do blood or urine tests for it anyway. If they really want to know-- they'll get an X-ray of your lungs.

I haven't had anything to smoke in about 3 weeks. Just decided to quit.

You are WRONG, most Insurance companies DO test for nicotine. Mine did and I PASSED
