Re: hibye getting a corn snake!

10g tank? Sure you can't stuff an 8' cobra in there? Or a 12' python? Should be fine if you don't feed it too much.

Re: hibye getting a corn snake!

-sigh. I will try to help, again. why? not sure. Maybe cuz I am a sucker for punishment. Maybe cuz I have raised snakes since I was 8 that I feel for the animal. Maybe I have developed an extra chromosome and cannot help myself, whatever the reason, here goes....

Corn snakes tend to get about 4-5 feet in length. a 10 gallon is far too small. they will get stressed out much like fish in a tank too small. It should not be kept in a cage less than 30 gallons (long). They need room to move and 10 gallons just ain't gonna cut it.

undertank heaters are less than effective, although better than hot rocks. If you are serious about keeping this critter long term, the best way to go is called a radiant heat panel (pro products sells the best 845-628-8960)

Corn snakes require a great deal of humidity and should not be kept in a cage with a wire mesh lid. get a visions cage or something that is all plexiglass with a locking door.

feed only frozen fare as live food tends to scar the animal as they get bigger.

If you are not to be deterred (as you usally are not) post a picture of your set up and I will give you more direction and criticism (as is my style). No Herfert.....yet

Doc has a heart of gold.

I find it easier to be sarcastic and make fun of the kid.

O. M. G. Mike. This, and your "Set Sail for Fail" pic. You have no idea what this means to me! I read this whole thread just now, and well, I have tears in my eyes. That is all.

Re: hibye getting a corn snake!

I would stay away from the bark myself. If you do get mytes they are hard to get rid of with the bark. My best luck was with the carpet. It was easier to clean when my 15 foot python took a dump the size of Hibye. Sadly my wife made me get rid of it when it tried to eat me over my stupid mistake. It hurts when they bite and they will all get you someday Hibye so don't be a wimp if you get one. I would get a ball python if I were you.
