Congratulations on the kill, looks like the taxidermist did a great job too! I would love to shoot a bear one day.

Re: My bear came in

I don't have any pets at home so I think the bear is safe. The pets I did have were very used to the animals I have on the walls.

Yes, my taxidermist did a great job. He was really impressed with this bears coat. The pictures don't do it justice. It is such a deep black.

By the way Yote and Ravenfan....the good bear hunting starts in May...y'all are welcome to come up

Bubba

Re: My bear came in

It wont be this year Bubba. But I am putting my over-time money back.I'm hoping to get to make a trip up that way in the next couple of years.
Plan on going with a guide service so I can try a grizzly with my bow.

Re: My bear came in

I would love to take a trip to Alaska! Thats definitly a dream vacation for me, even if it wasn't to hunt. Hunting would just make it that much better! Unfortunatly I dont see that happening anytime soon.

Re: My bear came in

Guided griz is pretty spendy Yote. About 7k to start. I do work with a Master Guide and might be able to swing something.

And Raven....its a great place to visit even without hunting. If you ever decide to come up..let me know and I can help you see the place from an inside view.

Thats why I'm saving my OT.
I'm planning towards moose and grizzly with my bow.A big carbou would work to.

Re: My bear came in

As a resident, that wouldn't cost me but about $25 total.

But just in tags you are looking at over $1200, not counting guide fees, license and transportation.

Re: My bear came in

That is a chunk of change. Its also the reason I work 70 and 80 hour weeks.
The way I got it figured.Barring something bad happening,I should be able to justifiy doing it in roughly a year and a half.
Shoot who knows.I may come up there for a couple a weeks of hunting and become a resident.

Re: My bear came in

not uncommon for the griz/moose trips to go over $14000 in guide fees alone. Thats a chunk of change for sure. Takes 1 year of living here to become a resident. But that doesn't mean you can't hunt with a resident. As long as you don't pay me its good. But "you" just can't shoot a griz or sheep during this hunt without a guide. But I sure can...haha
