Re: hello!!!

You mean like a real MD? Not a PhD. What are you thinking about doing a residence in. I loved my years in an Emergency Room. Not that it didn't do its part in making me callused and pretty incapable of compassion at times, but still I remember it as the best part of my life. I do not envy all the long hours you will work as an intern though. I remember them working 6o hours a week and sleeping in the hospital on call at least a couple nights a week on top of the 60 hours. Takes some awfully patient women to be married to interns and residents. Not that doctors after their residency work many short work days, or weeks.

Current Aquarium(s) Description: 120g SPS Mother Colony Tank, 40 g sump, back wall overflows, 2 closed loop circulation circuits 59X
Experience in Saltwater & Reef Aquarium Hobby: 35 years in marine aquarium trade and managing LFS's, 10 years with coral.
Other Intrests: Coral Propagation, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Cabinetry, and Reef Systems Development

All right, blood, gore and guts. I loved it working in Emergency Rooms. Maybe me pretty numb then though, and for years after that. All the compassion and empathy pretty much way back sunk out of site. I was very young then though and did not have many coping skills. The first few dead children really, really, bothered me. It was hard to accept that the perp was sick. I had to shower heavily those first few years when working in Emergency rooms, just tryingto wash away the feelings of disgust and anger. So much senseless cruelty people inflict on each other, especially domestically. And the drunk parent who survived the auto accident while the children did not. Alcoholism was not something I understood then and neither compassion or empathy was I able to feel then for the surviving parent. Wow, memories can be painful too.
