When I started my first tank around 7 or 8 years ago, I used an undergravel filter. I had fake rocks from Petco (the red and gray marbled ones) and I had like half a dozen damsels (blue, domino and striped). I had an HOT Magnum canister filter and a cheapo Walmart HOB power filter. With a single fluorescent bulb. Good times!!!

And I agree with em.We all have done things and added livestock that wasnt supposed to work together.
