Same here. I cant see myself shooting anyone but im glad i have the option to do it

Oh and i also like the fact that we can fight a corrupt government if ever needs be. With most of the population probably having guns, i can sleep at night knowing a dictatorship in America will probably never happen.

Re: Guns or no guns?

Yep, it is Kennesaw. My brother loves it there. My folks are just a ways north, along with an aunt, uncle and some cousins. It's a gorgeous area with all the mountains. Not to beat on us from NY, but out taxes are killing us. I'll be heading south when I retire (Southern VA to Northern GA and from Eastern TN to Western NC / SC).

I can't say I agree with a requirement to carry. However, I do believe that every law-abiding citizen should (and does according our founding fathers) have the right to carry should they chose to do so. I would be one who would chose to carry. I would love to get a black powder revolver but even that needs a pistol permit, which is rather pricey in NY.

Re: Guns or no guns?

Proud gun owner and responsible citizen.

The gubment can have MY guns when they blow up my friggin' house with a tank and pry them from my corpse. If they show up with machine guns and hand grenades to "confiscate" my guns -- it's gonna be a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG night for them.

I got enough ammo, gas masks and bullet proof vests to start WW3 and I LIKE it that way.

I trust the gubment about as far as I can throw a horse.

Re: Guns or no guns?

Dustin,

The Gov't will continue to try and ban whatever they want. We only have our right to bear arms because people stood up and said no. We loose our freedoms when we do nothing. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Guns or no guns?

I believe this country would be a safer place with more guns carried by everyday, responsible citizens. I went to a mall in Anchorage, AK a few years ago and there were ordinary people walking around with sidearms and rifles (there was a hunting expo nearby). At that time I felt more American in that place than any other in my life. Why would anyone want to give up their right to defend themselves? Who wants to live in a world where it's easier for criminals to obtain guns than law abiding citizens?

Re: Guns or no guns?

I think yes and no. I don't think anyone should be able to carry a gun without undergoing proper training. Any moron can buy a gun (provided they pass a background check, which isn't even always a requirement). You hear stories about people going all ballyhoo and shooting up the wrong people, or accidents from mishandling weapons. Accidents involving guns happen all the time. Unfortunately, they commonly involve children. No one should be able to own one without undergoing some sort of training course. And if I had my way, there'd be a standardized training course nationwide, for every state. And if you have children or children are in your house, you should not be able to own a gun unless you prove that protections are in place for the childrens' safety.

Re: Guns or no guns?

Drunk driving kills a whole lot more people than guns in the hands of morons. Proper training of course, is a must. Just like with anything else that is dangerous, like construction equipment. The way I see it, a gun isn't the only way to kill people, just easier than the way the job got done in the old days. I think fear is a big problem, people are afraid of guns. I think if we were better educated with the use and idea of them, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

Re: Guns or no guns?

Well, I'm one that believes there should be much stiffer penalties for drunk driving too. It infuriates me when you see on the news a drunk driver has hit and killed someone, oh, but they've been arrested for DUI three freakin times before, and always got off with probation and fines. It may sound harsh, but if I had my way, I'd have mandatory jail time for all people convicted of DUI. Not only that, but take their licenses and their cars away for at least a year. People with suspended licenses continue to drive anyways, as long as they have access to their vehicle still. So you need to take away their license and their vehicle. Of course some people will always find a way, but at least it would cut down on it.

Hell, there are some places in Europe that take away your license for life for one DUI offense (like the city I lived in in Germany). It's no surprise that the city I lived in had the lowest DUI rates of almost anywhere on the continent (even though people of every age drank, it was Germany after all).
