I've run from a hurricane before(Gilbert).Its not easy to leave what you've worked to have and not know if it'll still be there after the storms over.

I hope people learned from the last one. If they stay they'll be on their own. I never understood why they built there in the first place. Seeiing it's a soup bowl. I for one would never live there. Also they said this will be a test for the levees that they built. Plus not all are finished yet. I just hope the people heed the warning and get out.

On the news just now, there is in effect tomorrow morning at 8 am mandatory evacuation of N.O. I'm not the praying type, but I am hoping for the safety of all the people and animals in that area.

I just drove through N.O. a couple weeks ago on my way back from Florida, and there were still obvious signs of Katrina, even from the freeway. Lots of buildings without roofs, lots of houses still boarded up. I wonder how, if Gustav hits as hard/harder than Katrina, that city will EVER exist again. If hurricanes of this force start to be a regular occurrence every 2 to 3 years (or even more frequently, which is what global warming models have predicted), that part of the country will become a ghost town.

i remember i was watching fox new (i know sham on me) before katrina hit and they interviewed a dumbass who was walking his dogs down burbone street just 18 hours before landfall and the guy said sir why are you staying here with the hurricane about to hit, and this dumbass, knowing he was on live tv, said thats none of your f-ing business, people are just absolute morons. and i think this storm will be way stronger then katrina could have hoped to be
