what makes this even worse is itll make landfall just three or four days after the three year anniversary of katrina

I hope more people take the evacuation notices seriously this time. A lot of people refused to evacuate Katrina because they weren't allowed to take their pets with them. Those policies have (supposedly) changed, so maybe there will be more success getting people out of there ahead of time.

I know I would not have evacuated if I was forced to leave my 4 cats and 2 dogs behind. I would have stayed home and tried my luck.

A big problem with Katrina was the infrastructure wasn't there and the community evacuation plans weren't in place......(corrupt city officials) wink wink.

I have been following this closely, living in SW Florida.

It looks like the people of New Orleans and surrounding areas are in better shape this time. Free public transportation to facilities are already beginning, 2 days before the storm is anticipated.

I even heard the US Guard from an Ohio based post is already there to help support.

but you also have to remember that the leaves failed and this time around all the leaves cant be strong enough to hold another cat 5

why cant they put their dogs and cats in the car and head out to anohter state ?

because people fly out also and airplanes dont want that many live animals on board im sure

oh im aware but i would rather fly out then sit in traffic for a day and a half to only move five feet.

you cant say someone shouldnt live there just because of the threat of a hurricane, that like saying noone should live in california because of the threat of an earthquake or someone in texas shouldnt live there because they might get hit by a tornado
