Colored tats look great...for about 10 years! then its all down hill. Black and gray hold the test of time better.

Color all depends on the ink you use. If your artist uses a dye the colors will fade sooner, but if they use pigment colors (I believe thats the name) then the colors can last 20 to 30 years. Either way when you get older you look bad ass. My grandpa has some Navy tats that are faded but they are memories and he still likes them. To me its all about respect of the art, the pain and the experience (memories) so when they fade or look bad it doesn't matter cause it means something to you. If you get a tattoo to please others you may as well not even get one. JMO

If they fade you can get them touched up. Alot of people I know get their tat's redone every 1 to 2 years and they look brand new.
