setting up a new tank

k im setting up my old 30 gallon tank as a QT and i was wondering if you can seed dead rock with live sand? or can u only seed it with live rock?

Yeah, you can seed it, but quarantine tanks usually don't have sand or live rock, since any medication you use will only kill it off anyways.

well it not really a QT it going to put other fish and softys. if my fish was sick or not eat right or somthing i could put him in their... u know wat im sayin

if you put corals and live rock in there and have a sick fish that you medicate you will kill every thing in the tank!!!

Daugherty is right, it defeats the purpose of moving a sick fish if you are just putting it into another tank with corals and live rock, you still wouldn't be able to treat it or medicate it.
