I am sad because I won't be setting up my 120G afterall. Lack of funds to do things the correct way have made me decide to get out of the hobby.
Thanks everyone for the advice and help you have given me. ~BT Current Aquarium(s) Description: 30G Reef Experience in Saltwater & Reef Aquarium Hobby: 8 Months |

Re: Not Setting Up The 120G Afterall
This hobby is definitely expensive if your doing things correctly. I wish you well and I'm sure one day things will pick-up for you and you'll find your way back.

you can always just run a basic Fish Only setup for a while till things pick up.

Re: Not Setting Up The 120G Afterall
I would set it up as an African cichlid tank. Vary little cost to this. They will also mouth breed constantly right in the tank. Vary cool to watch.
You can use regular old treated tap for water. Any substrate you like and flower pots and cheap sand stone to provide cover and just basic cheap flourecent lighting. While you will have to provide some water movement but it will be nothing like whats needed for sw tank. Filtration is not as important as long as weekly water changes are performed along will some substrate vacuuming. Introduce and odd number of juvinals and you will eventually end up with one male with a harem of females. Or possibly two competing clans give the tanks size. Melanachromis(sp?) were my favorite back in the day. Shhhhhh. Dont tell any body but there are days with my reef tank that I contemplate breaking the whole thing down and going back to my cichlid beginnings. My wallet sure would thank me for it if I did. Re: Not Setting Up The 120G Afterall
sorry to hear that. hopefully one day you will ask yourself "how can i afford it" and find a way. I have x ammount of dollars in my budget just for fish tank and if there is anything i want that exceeds that it comes out of my monthly "fun money" it works out pretty well
