Mushrooms

Do mushrooms ever detach themselves from rocks? I was looking in my tank this morning and noticed one of my mushrooms is hanging from the rock by something thin and string-like...its just swinging around but the mushroom itself is open and looks healthy.

Is there anything i should do?

Re: Mushrooms

Ive had some move in my live rock storage tank. They are more of an anenome than a coral so I imagine that they are somewhat motile.

Re: Mushrooms

They can detach when they choose. I have several that float around from time to time seeking new places to inhabit. It is normal

Re: Mushrooms

Yep, normal. Sometimes one of mine will go missing, I'll write it off, then find it 6 feet away a few months later.

Re: Mushrooms

I seen them detach, blow to a different area, while another grows in it's place.Sometimes they move just an inch or so away, leaving the base behind and the bit of stub grows into another one.Mushrooms reproduce is so many different ways.

However,I''ve seen mushrooms also detach from getting to much flow.
