RO/DI Water Quality
When is it time to change the filters? The TDS Meter is reading 035 (ppm, I assume).

Re: RO/DI Water Quality
On average, sediment and carbon filters get changed every 6-8 months, DI resin anywhere from 8-12 months and RO membrane about every 2 years. It all depends on the quality of the source water and amount of water processed.
Something needs to be changed with the TDS at 35. Current Aquarium(s) Description: 125 reef, mostly SPS Experience in Saltwater & Reef Aquarium Hobby: 20 years |

Re: RO/DI Water Quality
Tucson water quality is so poor, that I wouldn't change mine until it got to be around 50. My tap water comes out at 400+.
Most people like to keep their TDS below 10 though.

Re: RO/DI Water Quality
I did something different after posting - namely, had the RO/DI output directly in a clean glass - and it tested at 001... so I guess that means the big bucket that I've been using for the past year should probably be cleaned... still, I'm going to follow cc's advice and get new carbon & sediment filters (if I can figure out which ones they are...)

Re: RO/DI Water Quality
Do you use the same bucket to make salt water? If so that could be why the reading is different.

Re: RO/DI Water Quality
Piggy, I used the bucket to hold about 20 gallons of saltwater when I changed from the acrylic to glass tank... ergo, erroneous reading...
