newbie here and have a very frustrating question

First I would like yo say that some of the members here are very knowledgable which is a good thing for me. My question or concern is that I have these white things on my rock that look almost like maggots but have like a little duster like at the end of it. there are about 2-3 mm now but i've seen them almost double that size earlier. Can anyone help in figuring out what these are. Thanks and loking forward to any answers.

Im guessing feather dusters too.It hard to say with out a pic.
But,feather duster are harmless filter feeders and kinda cool to watch.

Are they fuzzy? Could be q-tip sponge.
If you look close, they have a duster type end.

Things that look like maggots (or white ants) are pods. Those are good for your tank too.

Re: newbie here and have a very frustrating question

Thanks for all your in-put but I know what feather dustrs look like and I dont think thats what they are I believe that Messiah023 has the right idea of what they may be but the Q-tip sponge sounds right also they do look like the tip of a q-tip with a very small duster at the tip end of them. But like a couple of you said a pic would be better the thing is it is so small its hard to get a good pic. Thanks again all

Re: newbie here and have a very frustrating question

Here's a pic of a q-tip sponge, also called a scypha sponge. Does it look like this?
