thinking of adding...
a flagtail grouper, not sure yet wanted to see what you guys thought. Biff, i posted pretty much the same post in the fish only section but got no replies, so i hope you dont mind me posting it here as well (this seems to be the most popular section of the forum). my tank is a 55 gallon FOWLR, but will soon be a 120 gallon (60x18x24) FOWLR. so far i have a dwarf lionfish, dogfaced puffer, picasso triggerfish, snowflake eel (small) and 4 damsels. all these fish are juvies, no bigger than a 50 cent piece. the grouper will be small as well.

Re: thinking of adding...
i would hold off on the grouper until you get the new tank up and running because you just never know if you will get that tank in the future

Re: thinking of adding...
no, the tank is bought and paid for, its jsut waiting at the LFS, a friend owns the place, for me to find space for it. the tank is a go already.
i am just wondering about the compatability with the other fish. i know the blue damsels will eventually disappear due to the lion and the picasso, but im not too worried about that at this point. Re: thinking of adding...
Unless you don't plan on the fish living long, you're already way overstocked for a 120 without the grouper.
The puffer will grow to 13", the picasso to 10", the eel can get up to 2' and your small lion 7". Then add in a 13" grouper? Current Aquarium(s) Description: 125 reef, mostly SPS Experience in Saltwater & Reef Aquarium Hobby: 20 years |

Re: thinking of adding...
Groupers grow pretty fast from what I know and they are aggressive and need lots of room to swim. Groupers will eat anything that will fit in their mouth. So if you have small enough damsels it will eat those.
Even though it would be small now it's a messy eater fish and I would really wait until the larger tank is set up to put the grouper in the tank. There's a reason why it needs at least 100gal. It's a messy eater and needs strobg filtration to keep up with it's mess. I also think your tank is already stocked, but the grouper may help trim off some of your stock for you, especially the damsels.
