Turned up protein skimmer

Just turned it up and some nice flow of bubbles are going. Do you think I will see a difference in water clarity? How long should I have it running like this at a constant flow of white bubbles?

Also, I have the purple algae growing on my Fiji rock. When should I expect to see it growing on the sides or what should I see growing after the brown layer on my sand? Thanks again gang!

Re: Turned up protein skimmer

you might or might not see a clarity in your water but since you turned it up it will have to be emptied sooner then usual since it will bring in more water to the collection cup

When do I usually see a scum to come in? Does it take a while?

once the white bubbles break down they will turn into the scum but it will be more water based since you turned it up

Re: Turned up protein skimmer

If your coralline has started growing, it will spread throughout your tank very quickly. You should see it spreading over the next few weeks. To help it along, take a hard toothbrush and brush some of the coralline off where it's growing now. Those spores will spread throughout the tank and start new coralline wherever they land.

After diatoms, you can expect slime algae and hair algae .
