Sality

What does eveyone keep their specific gravity at? Is it better to keep it a little lower or higher than 1.024? Mine is between 1.024 and 1.025 constant. Should I keep it more around 1.023 to 1.024 or is it fine where it is?

Re: Sality

I would keep it lower. 1.023 at the highest. I let mine fluctuate between 1.020 and 1.023

Re: Sality

Really? I didn't think you could keep it that low with corals in it. Hummm. I am going to drop it slowley down to 1.020-1.023 and see how things work out. Damn I am confused now. DOH.

With lower sality will it make corals grow easier and fish breath easier? Maybe that is why my xenia is moody.

Re: Sality

The average salinity at most coral reefs around the world is 35ppt or 1.026. Some places, like the Red Sea, it is even higher.

Re: Sality

For a fish only,no inverts 1.020-1.021.

For a reef and inverts it is more ideal to keep it close to natural seawater like Capt mentioned.I keep mine at 1.025.
