Found some fine white sand...
picked up a 10 lb bag and I'm adding it slowly with a disposable drinking water bottle. Is this right to add the fine sand on top of the other live sand I've got in there?

Re: Found some fine white sand...
Depends on how thick of a layer you're adding. If it's just an inch or two, it'll be just fine.

Yep, just an inch or two. Should I be adding it slowly?

Re: Found some fine white sand...
If you add it slowly, you'll get less cloudiness. So yes, that's what I'd do. Some people cut a small hole in the bag and lay it down on the bottom of the tank and slowly let it out that way.

Re: Found some fine white sand...
Just rinse the outside of the bag off good. Then you can sink the bag,cut one end off with a sharp knife, then slowly ease the sand out of the bag.

Re: Found some fine white sand...
I used an upside down cup to add sand and it did not work well. The water bottle full of sand and inserted upside down, sounds like a good idea.

Re: Found some fine white sand...
I used a piece of PVC just long enough to reach the sand bed and scooped it in. Worked great.
