Reef Rock and Live Rock Question
Has anyone had success using coral skeleton/reef rock as a base then populating it by the addition of live rock? I am trying to cut costs, and I see that I could get a large amount of "reef rock" from Carib Sea for pretty cheap.
This is the specific rock I am talking about Aquarium | Colored Freshwater Gravel | Reef Rock - 50 lbs - CR0013 - ThatPetPlace.com I was thinking of using 50 lbs of that rock with 5-10 lbs live rock. -Brian Current Aquarium(s) Description: 10 gal planted fresh; 30 gal caribbean reef biotope Experience in Saltwater & Reef Aquarium Hobby: 4 years fish only, 1 year reef Other Intrests: Botany, Aviation, Sports Shooting, Language |

Re: Reef Rock and Live Rock Question
Seeding base rock with a few pounds of live rock is pretty common practice. It should work just fine.

Re: Reef Rock and Live Rock Question
Live Rock is created by companies taking limestone out of a quarry dumping it in the ocean waiting and harvesting it after it seeds they cant harvest real live rock so they make there own for sell.
