Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

great buys guys. I am impressed with the impulsiveness you both have. You put me to shame!!!

Have you seen the sunburst anthias? maybe that is what you are referring to with "sunset". I forgot to mention them last night they are: Serranocirrhitus latus...sometimes called fathead or hawkfish anthias. The bible says they are deep water, but both my LFS have them in shallow reefs with MH lighting. They are super pretty and docile.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

Yeah I didn't like the look of the fatheads. They just looked, well...too fat? I was toying with the idea of getting another tang too, but didn't want to push my bioload too much at once.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I don't think its a fathead anthias or sunburst, its a Pseudanthias parvirostris,Kinda looks like Bartletts but nicer maybe,we'll see.

Sunset Anthias - Male (Pseudanthias parvirostris)

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

never seen those before. Can't help with any firsthand experience. Best of luck to you on your new fishies. Make sure you post pics on Reefs 210 Journal.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

Hmmm on other sites sunset anthias are listed as the same as fatheads, but you're right, that pic doesn't look like a fathead at all. That one looks really cool, in fact, and I would have ordered that instead of the lyretail if I had seen the pic beforehand! SHEESH.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

Oooh nice Freak! Thank you! I added two male sunset anthias to my order. So that will be a total of 11 anthias, three of them males. Sound good?

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

Not to be outdone,I added a male/female lyretail and a Purple Queen anthias.

That makes bartletts, tiger queen, lyretails, sunsets, dispars and purple queen anthias. That makes 6 varieties of anthias,Doc don't you wish you had a tank as big as Biff and me?

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I didn't add the purple queen because I RESEARCHED THEM BEFOREHAND and discovered that they are a deepwater species and does not do well in reef tanks
