Biff,Just remember to put fans in front of open windows and give 2 to 3 weeks AFTER the die offs gone. Then you'll be happy you done it.

Damn it Biff,I thought you weren't ordering any rocks for awhile.I already made my order for 60lbs Tonga Deepwater show size.If this rock doesn't look any better than the Fiji and I paid a premium,I gonna be pissed.

Yeah. It's still 100+ degrees here every day. I can't leave the windows open or I'll fry! And Dr. Marco... I don't have an extra skimmer for the live rock. I'm going to cure them in rubbermaid tubs.

I am in for some major stinkiness... I did think about curing the rock on my back porch outside, but I think the water will get too hot for that. I don't think I have a choice but to do it inside...with the windows closed...

I got excited. And couldn't wait. I'm so impulsive like that. When I want something, I want it NOW. And I get it NOW! I was thinking of buying a box of the Tonga Deepwater show size also. If yours looks nice, maybe I'll get that next time, since I do want a mix of different rock types. My rocks should be here early next week! Yay!

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I thought there Fiji was already cured. Why not cure it in the DT,sure it still may have die-off but the cycle should go really quick.I honestly don't think it will smell bad.The Lalo,I ordered smelt pretty fresh for uncured rock.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I don't think it's already cured. The Caribbean is definitely not. I can't cure it in my DT, I'm moving all my fish and corals into it immediately and all at the same time. Because my new tank is going in the same place where my old tank is, and my old tank is going underneath as the sump. So if I cure it in my DT, it might kill all my friends!

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

are you going to use your current skimmer for your new tank? Is it rated high enough to do that? If I were you, I would use your current skimmer on your 55 to help cure the LR. Your DT can go a few days at a time without your skimmer. Just an idea.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I am eventually going to get an in sump skimmer. But for now, with my current livestock, I'm sticking with my Remora Pro. When I am ready to add more fish and corals, I will upgrade skimmers first.
