Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

No it was saltwater that flooded... The carpets were all steam cleaned last night. Hopefully that got all the salt out. Hopefully they'll turn out okay!

I think that I tend to go fast with pretty much everything in my life... That's the way I am. My tank is no exception!

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I use Kent marine salt myself. I believe its a good choice. Pics of the rock when you get it. I put 20 lbs of uncured fugi and 20 lbs of uncured tonga in my sump to seed the system and let it cure there, took 2 months but when I sold it back to the lfs it had a very clean smell to it. good luck on the curing of the rock.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

Yeah I was really impressed about how quickly the Kent Marine salt dissolved. It says on the bucket that it's more fine so that it can dissolve better. In one bucket, I used some leftover Red Sea salt that I had. Two days later, there's still salt sitting on the bottom of that bucket. No salt sitting on the bottom of any of the buckets that I used Kent Marine in. I'll definitely be using this salt from now on. It wasn't very expensive either.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I used some Red Sea salt when I initially did the setup on my tank. Took a couple days to get it all dissolved. I switched to Instant Ocean. Seams to work okay.

Sorry about your indoor pond. That totally blows.

Curing live rock inside the house because of the Arizona heat? With the windows shut and the A/C on? WHEWWW that some funky smell ya got there!!! Your CLOTHES in the closet are gonna smell by the time it's all cured.

I see that you have joined the exclusive ranks of the AFT Club, RC! Yay! An initiation package containing 365 different types of algae has been sent to your house -- one for every day of the year! Yeah, the AFT is so cool, we have our own Daily Algae program.
