Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

Hey, the pump was $175 of that... The recirc Octopuses...Octopi...whatever... come with the skimmer pump included, but not the pump you need to rig up to the sump.

So that means don't get the recirculating model.right?

Well it looks like it will clear up the cyano in time.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

Looks great Biff, I like your aquascaping. Serious tank envy of all you folks in th BTC and I hope to be a member some day, but for now I will watch and learn on your threads.

I struggle with photos too. On our local forums we have a couple Pofessional Photographers that hold classes now and then and I have never been able to attend one. I am urging them to do some classes at the February Frag swap. I have a really nice professional camera that is smarter than I am and just can't get things right, but they take some incredible pictures.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I haven't messed with any of the manual settings yet. I think that's what it might come down to... I'll keep working at it!

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

maybe you will have to dust off that manual and actually read a couple words in that thing and see how things work with that camera. take a step back on the instant gratification lifestyle you live

CLEAN YOUR GLASS!!!! oops was I yelling?

That is why your pictures are blurry and washed out. Do you have any actinics? What K. are your halides?

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I did clean my glass! The glass was really scratched up when I bought the tank. Maybe why it cost $100. I can never get the glass to actually look CLEAN.

I have 4 x 250 W 10K halides. I don't like the way they look, but those were the bulbs that came with the lights. I'm going to switch to 14K when it comes time for me to switch out the bulbs.

And my actinics are T5s, but up against the 1000 watts of halide, I don't even notice them.

Re: Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

Yeah, your lighting isn't helping with your photo quality. Once you get the 14k halides I am sure you corals will pop. What brand of T5 bulbs do you have?
