Re: 180 gallons up in this!!!! NWKRC!

yep that is MUCH easier on the wallet. but hey vlamingis have a life span of up to 45 years so its not like you'll have to buy one more than twice. selling point?

Hmmm... Let's put it this way. My nitrate test goes up to 150. My vial of purple water was more purple than the highest shade on the test kit. So I have no idea what my nitrates were actually at. But they were at least 150.

Everything is still alive and looks healthy, looks fine. Even my SPS colonies. All my cleaner crew are still fine too, shrimp, starfish and all. Hell, my majano anemones are loving it!! I think that it's possible for sensitive inverts to survive high nitrates if they are slowly acclimated to them. I mean, I hadn't done a water change since September. It's taken 6 or 7 months for them to reach that point, and in the mean time nothing has died. I'm just toughening up my animals!

I'm also not getting any more algae than normal. Strange. I've double checked my nitrates, my home test is indeed accurate. All the corals are looking fine too.

After 3 weeks of daily or every other day water changes, the nitrates are now between 50 and 75. So they're creeping down slowly. But god knows what they started at.

Red I did see the pictures but I almost pissed myself when the ambiguously gay duo comment rolled out. I am way jealous of you guys I cant stand having to wait for so long to get my tank up and running. Now I just daydream about it all day long. Big gorgeous fishies swimming in my brain.

Re: 180 gallons up in this!!!! NWKRC!

I have the tank in my possesion but it will be dry for a while, waiting to move into our first house. Should be in sometime in may. Dry til then, which is fine because I have to buy a skimmer buy MH ballasts build a sump replumb the whole tank and buy a closed loop pump. Then come live rock and sand. So I need a couple thousand.
