Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build

It's not destined to be brown forever. A lot of times SPS will change colors in different lighting. Every SPS that I have bought brown has turned purple under my lights.

Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build

Doc,it looks like a Pocillipora, not actually an acro........Saltwater Aquarium Corals for Marine Reef Aquariums: Pink and Green Pocillopora damicornis - Aquacultured

Who knows what color it will become under proper lighting now.It could turn green, pink, purple, lavender.

Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build

oh yeah, my nems. Forgot about that one. BTW, was it a good buy for $30? I hope it will change colors, but Biff, I don't have your lights. I am hopeful it will be pink. I want pink in my tank.

Now, about my nems. They were getting HUGE. I saw them starting to conflict with my coral placement options. I do enjoy my BTAs, but I decided to remove one and just keep one. When I added my new hunk of LR, I took out the rock he was attached to and gently removed him. I took him back to the LFS and now my corals can move out a bit more.

Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build

OK you coral geniuses, i have some coral questions:

1) how fast can I expect my SPS corals to grow? I see all of these tanks with colonies of SPS corals that have only been running a year or so. Hard to believe that they grow that fast. I understand my montipora (the orange one) does grow kinda quick for an SPS, but I have no idea what that is?

2) what can I do to speed up their growth? I keep my calcium between 450 and 500 and my DKh at 12-13. my water quality seems high but I don't dose anything else.

3) Do they grow faster if I put them right at the top? I have them 3/4 of the way up.

Thanks in advance
