Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build
HAHA You havn't met my wife have you.LOL No I did have a 125 fresh but I thought it would take too much on water changes at 13 gal a week and just thought it would be too much for me. A part of me wishes I kept it though. What kind of water changes do you do?

Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build
well, I am lazy. I only do 10 gallons a week. If I am feeling frisky, I will do a massive 15, but I religiously do 10 a week and it keeps parameters looking spot on. I do feed daily as well. having lots of LR helps A TON as does my skimmer, carbon, etc. Corals seem to be happy and growing as well. I think it is worth it to keep a bigger tank. For me, the real cost is the lighting. the lights cost as much or more than the tank if you are doing a reef with clams, sps, etc.
when I upgrade, I am going to move from a 90 to a 120 (last move) and increase from the 125 to at least a 265, but really want a 600+. I will keep the same lights I have now and rig a way to keep them on the tank, not for corals as much as good lights to see my sharks. -Doc Current Aquarium(s) Description: 210 gal "Shark Reef" With Angelfish and 90 gal reef tank Experience in Saltwater & Reef Aquarium Hobby: long enough to know I have a lot to learn |

Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build
WOW 600+ that is HUGE. If you did 10% a week youd have to buy 2 buckets a month. Sh!t that would be 70$ a month just for salt not to mention the electric bill. WOW! That all I can say is WOW! 10 a week huh. Thats really not that bad. I'm doing 6 a week now with the two tanks. Really what would 4 more gal a week be, then I could those pretty fish. I That was when I started and thought 13 a week was a whole lot.

Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build
15 a week ain't that bad. if I overstock my tank (which I have done in the past), I have done 20 a week. it does get a bit pricey, but not that bad. it is worth it to have the beauty of the ocean in your house. everyone that visits just stares, for a long time. they cannot help but gawk. there is no price tag for that kind of experience. go bigger, don't do 125. do at least 150. Alexander has it right with a 180 - you can do anything and it doesn't totally break the bank.

Re: Dr Marco's Reef Build
I've found that a 240 is just too big for regular water changes for me. I've only done two 10% changes since I set the tank up in September
