no my smup is not, way too many wires to cover it plus the skimmer is sticking out of the middle

When I covered my sump it lowered evaporation greatly. My 5 gallon bucket now last 4 days instead of 2.

Glass tops will reduce oxygenation in your tank and will heat up the water. I'd go with eggcrate. You will get more evaporation with eggcrate though.

what if i got the glass tops and left one of the two fronts open to help with oxygenation and to let the heat dissipate

No. You can buy it in the lighting department at Lowe's or Home Depot. It's a plastic grid that you can cut to fit the top of your tank. It's really cheap and works well (most of the time) to keep jumpers in, without restricting light or gas exchange.
