Re: Doc's Shark Tank

If your redoing the silicone I would do it all. Silicone does not stick to silicone if that makes sense. Just take a razor and remove all the silicone clean the glass with vinigar or some other cleaner line the tank with masking tape about 1/2 to 3/4 inch away from the corner silicone and slide your finger down the corner. Make you slide your finger firmly but not so hard you push all the silicone out of the corner, then remove the tape so you're left with a nice even line. On the bottom I wouldn't worrie about the tape and would put extra thick bead there. DOn't worrie how the bottom looks as long as it's thick because it will be covered. Also when you run your finger down the beads make sure you get the air bulbbes out.

Re: Doc's Shark Tank

Phew. Done. I thought I was going to die though. The fumes from that silicone just about killed me. I had to kneel down to get the right angel and the stale air inside the tank was so poisonous. Talk about a headache... yuck.

But, It is done... I hope. (gulp).

Here is the start of the clean up

After a while, I realized that the vacuum hose would be better....so...

Finally, I washed down the walls, scraped off the dead coralline and completed the silicone. A good night

SOOOOO, tomorrow, I need to find a nice supply of super glue and I can re-attach the plastic braces to keep the glass from pulling away (thanks for the info dominick) and I will be ready to switch tanks out (yippie )
