I would imagine the glass is 1/2 if not half then 3/8 which is pretty damn close.LOL Are you using the water from your 125 to, or using all new water doc?

Look at you giving me all kinds of hell...I am going to measure right now!

Yes, I used all my old water from the 125 + 90 more gallons of new salt water. I counted.

Re: Doc's Shark Tank

So, here is how I have spent the last five hours...

I started by removing the water from the 125 and placing it in the plastic buckets seen here.

After placing all the corals in two tubs and as much live rock as I could, I caught the live stock and dropped them in their own individual tubs. I made quite a mess.

Now, before I continue, I want to address the shotty picture quality. First, I was sore from swimming all day at the pool before setting out to change out a huge tank. Second, I am paying homage to Yote and his famed quality pics, so enough of the bitching!

I you need to take some dramamine, that is fine, I will wait to post more pics til you have taken some...

Re: Doc's Shark Tank

I started making new salt water, and I realized (as I did last time) that the new water is freakin' cold as compared to the tank water. I never plan well for this reality and I just hope my livestock will make it through the shock of really cold water.

Here is the new tank sitting on my custom (cough) stand. It took three of us to pick it up and set it down on the stand. Draining the sand out of the 125 and placing it in the new tank was quite a pain in the ass. I ended up draining the old sand thru a strainer to leave behind all the crap in the murky water. I kept the new water from looking too dirty.

I didn't leak test the tank and I have my fingers crossed that it won't spring a leak. I have been in and out of the from for the last hour since I completed filling it and so far, so good.... (knock on wood)

Re: Doc's Shark Tank

I had to take all the jugs I had two times to fill the tank. It was way too much work. It almost made me wish I had an RO/DI unit. But not just yet.

The water temp dropped down to 70 degrees when filling the tank with new water mixed with the old. I dropped in a heater and a powerhead to swirl around the warmer water, but it really never got higher than 74 before I dropped in all my corals and live stock. I guess if they are meant to live, they will make it through the night.

At this point, the tank was nearly filled and all the critters were put back in their new home. I got some serious "reef-rash" moving the live rock. My hands are split and bleeding. That part was not fun at all. Open wounds and salt water don't make good companions. OUCH

Re: Doc's Shark Tank

Here is the final shot of the completed tank. I just don't have the energy to aquascape tonight. I am sore and tired. My back hurts. I will do it later. Hell, I cannot figure out why my lights won't turn on. Eh, I can figure all that out tomorrow. It is done. I have a big tank. I guess I have to remove my signature line now...OK. It is worth it to have a bigger tank!
