I know that garlic and C boost immune system in saltwater, does it do the same for freshwater ? I have a black shark, he's about 10 or 11 years old. His fins are all shredding, and so is his tail. I was wondering if C would help him. I checked the water, everything is perfect, did a water change 2 weeks ago, cleaned the filters. Do fish do this when they get old and are about to go ? I never had a fish live this long.

Those High FIn sharks are a brackish water fish and can be acclimated to full salt, although I don't recommend it, it has been done.

The LFS told us that also when we started the saltwater. They had them with their saltwater fish. I told him I had one in my freshwater, he said they can go in either one, but once you put them in one, you can't switch them to the other.

Thanks for the nice comments, he is my favorite fish. It will be a sad day when he goes.

Well thats not entirely true, once you switch them to saltwater they can't go back to fresh. They also don't live nearly as long in saltwater either the warm temps increase their metabolism too much I think.
