My daughter is also a 17 year old junior. While she has not expressed a desire for a particular career path, it was always expected that she would leave our town for college. Our local school is tiny. The last month or two she's suddenly talking about staying here. We do different summer camps each year, nothing so interesting as Biff (we let her pick) but lately we look for programs on college campus' so she can get a feel for that school. I wonder what happens at the beginning of their junior year to scare them away from going away? After the schools she's talked about going to and the intense courses she's taking now I would be kind of disappointed if she stayed home if it was due to a fear of leaving. I think it's a great idea to look into these camps! Good luck!

lol, oh biff how i wish it were that way! college is the only important thing to my dad and we aren't allowe to go to a 4 yr without first doing 2 painstakingly long worthless years at our JC here. which offers.... NOTHING. lol. our school is pathetic and i've been stuck ehre for almost 4 years trying to get JSUT my general ed done because of lack of teachers/budgets/lack of classes.

No doubt I wonder what happens if it is just nervs starting to catch up with them. Thats a great idea about the college campus programs, I would think that will help her feel more comfortable with leaving for college.

oh man cephs? TOTALLY take her to humbolt!!! one of our head aquarists who LOVES cephs and jellies (we call him jelly man lol) went there and deals with everything in that family and i know that during the humbolt squid migration/beaching they do ATON to help put things back into the ocean and a few things other things.

umm i belive that scripts is about 30mins away from SDSU. the campus is awesome and the whole school is dedicated to science theres 3 different departments to it and they all are at a different location... the science one is on the coast tho. if you want i can get you exact directions/address to it my uncle teaches classes there too
